Title: Media Players
Post by: matt on December 08, 2012, 05:06:43 AM
I tested a large number of players for another forum, with these favorites as a result.

1. BS Player -the most tweakable, least stutter, ability to pinch and zoom, and exit to pop-up. Lan access.

2. MX Player -the most supported codecs, including .wtv  Lan through ES File explorer.

3. Wondershare -along with it's predecessor, Daroon, the only ones that would play ts_video files using the dvd menu. Lan access. Also has web video links, although they are titled by tv episode and not show.

Unfortunately, wifi throughput is not good enough to play uncompressed dvd and Bluray structure.
Maybe a usb solution can be found?

Thanks Matt  Very informative. Thanks for the time you put in. I actually have both Bs and MX installed.

At one time I had 14 players installed, and I'm sure I missed a lot. Wanted to try VLC but couldn't find the player, just streaming and remote.

Any other faves?

Nothing plays DTS audio other than VLC currently.

Wondershare seemed to be playing audio, too much buffering to tell which track.

Where is the vlc player, or are you streaming from pc?

I'm just saying I've always been happy with my Google media apps. I've tried a couple others and sure they work great but I've always been more than happy with just what Google has

Vlc player is in beta right now. I'm looking forward to the release. Its my player of choice on my PC.

I thought bs player could decode DTS...

This item isn't available in your country. (USA)  Don't see that too often.

mx is the best for now, but if vlc pulls the same quality and reliability that the pc version has, ill def move to vlc :D

im editing cause I've just try them both and you are right!  ive deleted vlc right away lol

The reason I prefer MX Player is the gesture control and volume boost on HW+ or Software decoding, I have VLC on my Laptop and rate it highly but MX Player bests it hands down on Android...
