Title: Temporary suspension of automatic capitalization
Post by: ppearce43 on September 14, 2012, 08:36:35 AM
I want to write the phrase "et al", but N7 always capitalizes the A in al (thinks it's a name, and automatically capitalizes the first letter).  How do I correct that on a "this time only" basis?
(I can't even find the function that does this.  Is there a toggle for Auto Caps?  If there is, what I'm looking for is a way to suspend that function temporarily).
Thx.

"Settings" to "Language & Input" to "Android Keyboard" (hit the settings icon to the right of this line) to "Auto Caps"

(It took me a while to find this the first time!)

Hmm, now that I reread your post I see you're looking for a toggle---I haven't found one yet, sorry! :-)

You could always switch to something like SwiftKey 3 Tablet.  Very customizable; more so than the stock keyboard.

Once you've written the word and before pressing space you will see the word above the keyboard with three dots below it, tap once to use the word or once it's moved to the left press again to add to your user dictionary.

Thanks for all responses.  Jays did the trick.
