Title: Reading an Ebook in landscape view
Post by: DavidNavratil on September 15, 2012, 11:46:47 AM
I don't have any android devices yet.  I work in the local library and patrons come in showing how their Kindle fire can read in Portrait or Landscape view by just moving the device.  Will the Nexus7 allow you to do that?  Also can you read both "Mobi" and "EPub" formats on this device? - Tks very much for the help!!!! David

Yes David, the Nexus 7 can read in portrait or landscape. My personal favorite reader is CoolReader at Google Play Here (https://play.google.com/store/search?q=coolreader) will allow you to read Mobi or Epub and even select the type of page transition, giving you the choice of a sliding page or the turned page effect.

No problem reading in either orientation.
See what your library recommends as their preferred reader(s)
For me to work with "NC Digital Library" I needed "Kindle Reader" for AMZ format and  "Overdrive (for Android)" to read EPUB format.
The problem with readers is not their user interface, but their interaction with the library system (due dates, how many books out at a time, etc).  Not clear how other readers will deal with this.  Learning the interface took a while.  Software was buggy (ie.  how to deal with books lost in download?), and the library staff was not quite up to speed on all of this.  They know somthing about Nook and Kindle, but not much about Android.
