Title: Screen response lags sometimes (CHROME ??)
Post by: CBers on September 18, 2012, 07:05:52 AM
Anyone else notice occasional screen response being slow, or non-responsive ??

I see it a lot in CHROME (OK, I could use another browser), but sometimes I see it in other apps as well.

In CHROME, when you touch a link, nothing happens and you have to touch it a 2nd or 3rd time.

Is there any touch/screen calibration on the Nexus 7 ??

I am running stock firmware (I don't want to root before anyone asks :) )

TIA.

OK, this seems to be getting worse.

I am having problems in other apps and the home screen.

Just trying to move an app to create a folder is failing - it keeps opening the app.

I have tried touch test apps but everything seems OK.

Anyone any ideas ??

I have just rooted, but it was a problem before.

TIA.

What size N7 you got? 8GB or 16GB?

Are you getting this lag elsewhere? Opening apps or when turning your N7 on?

Mine is the 16GB version and suffers from some lag, from what I've read it only seems effect the 16GB version but usually this happens when the internal storage is getting low.
There's a couple of threads on here about it, might not be your problems but I'll try and dig them out.

16Gb, with ~10Gb free.

I've read the other threads but don't seem to apply in my case.

I'm wondering if it's low battery issue, as I was down to 16% earlier - it's on charge now and I will see what it's like later.

I switched off the LIVE wallpaper and still got it so not sure it's that.

It's not just me seeing it on my Nexus 7, as my wife sees the same.

Seems to be better now it's been charged.

Strange!

Maybe the Tegra chipset wasn't getting the power it craved? Could understand it you was doing something CPU intensive...

Is TAPATALK that CPU hungry then :)

LOL

No lag today after fully charging.

Will not charge again unless lag reappears.

I have had similar issues with both my phone and Samsung Galaxy Tab.  The charge of the battery does play a small factor, as does how many items you are running in the background.  I tend to look into my Tasks, and closeout any unwanted apps when I am doing something CPU intensive (Gaming).  That seems to be the nudge it needs to eliminate the lag in the hardware.  I hope this helps.

It could be a pain.. but I would try a couple of things... first, reboot it...

also.. i had to clear data and force close chrome.. it helped..

You could check your running apps, but jb does a great job of keeping the background free of clutter..

I also use a cache cleaner to keep that under control.. sometimes just cleaning the cache can help.. even if you have lots of free memory..

The lag seems a lot better when the battery is fully charged, virtually gone.

Also noticed that the screen can pick up finger marks quite a lot so I'm wondering if a dirty screen can be a factor as well.]

Thanks for the comments though.
