Title: Screen Unresponsive
Post by: jschlis on September 18, 2012, 08:35:06 PM
Hi,

Had the N7 for 3 weeks. Two days ago the screen started becoming unresponsive, now you have to hit an icon 3 - 4 times and typing is a nightmare. Anyone else having these issues? Any fix?

I have had this happen to me sometimes. If I use Google now it lags every once in a while. I narrowed that down to it being incompatible with the bluetooth speaker I have. Are you using a third party keyboard app or built in with Android? I would do a soft reset and see if that helps. If not post more info and we can go from there.

Try tapping the double squares at the bottom of the screen and swipe the running apps to the side to close them. I know Android is supposed to allow resources as required, but I have seen it immediately correct sluggish response. Possibly some app is not releasing resources correctly.

Only rarely has this happened to me.  It's usually because I've got too much traffic on my network.

I have to try what Prime suggested. I wasn't sure if those apps were still running. I thought that they were just a history of what was used last.

That doesn't show running apps just a list of recently opened apps.

Also, if in landscape mode, you have to drag up or down to remove.

You need to install something like WATCHDOG LITE (available from Google Play) to monitor running apps.

Yes the two squares do show recently used apps but some of those apps can be closed by swiping them, not all apps can be closed like this though.
The only things I would suggest closing is applications that stay alive once closed or apps that you have pushed to the back ground using the home button, steer clear of killing services and processes.

I posted some interesting information in a front page topic on recent apps Here. (http://nexus7forum.com/index.php?topic=1059.0) Give it a test and post your results.

My keyboard app seems to have been my problem. I wonder if the OP is using SWIFT 3.

I am trying SlideIT now. I will let everyone know how it goes. I like the whole slide to type thing. What a time saver!

I am having similar problems with my device. When I first got two days ago I would frequently an error pop up saying the app launcher is having problems so I would.be prompted to press the report button to report the problem. To be honest I almost returned the item but I am deciding to stick it out and hopefully the problem will fix itself. My screen is not as responsive. I wonder if it is just my particular device. Hmmm I hope we on this thread can help each other solve this problem. I don't feel so alone with this problem.
