Title: Bluetooth Speakers
Post by: bjs229 on September 24, 2012, 11:11:10 PM
Does anyone use a Bluetooth speaker with their Nexus 7? If so, which brand and do you notice any problems with Jellybean.

I have a Motorla EQ5 portable Bluetooth speaker that I use with my N7.  It works very well and provides better quality sound and louder volume then the N7's built-in speakers.  I've also used the speaker with my Motorola Droid Razr phone and Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 tablet with equally good results.  Motorola EQ5 (http://www.motorola.com/Consumers/HK-EN/Consumer-Product-and-Services/Mobile+Phone+Accessories/Speakers/Motorola+EQ5+Ultra-Portable+Wireless+Speaker+-+80200_Loc%253A_Loc%253AHK-EN)

I hate to disagree with anyone, but fxsarge is absolutely correct, the Bose offering is the only solution.

This is where my cry for help started to begin. I have had Bluetooth/WiFi issues from the beginning. Sometimes it is fine but most of the time unacceptable. If I play the music off of Google Music thru the regular nexus internal speaker it streams fine. As soon as I try and use bluetooth it stutters. This is by far for me the most annoying issue that I have encountered with this device. I use it mostly to listen to music and video and such and this just really is unacceptable. I don't even know if it is a Nexus issue or just an inherent trait of Jellybean or Android period. I'm annoyed.

As far as Bose, they sound good but there are alternatives

I have noticed that the sound stutter happens mostly when the screen is turned off. I have WiFi set to not sleep but that didn't help. Going nuts trying to figure this out .

Yeah I feel ya Sarge. I know you love your toys and music. This issue has really been making me nuts. I am resigned to just loading as much music and video as I can onto the SD and my widrive and forget about streaming with the built in WiFi till its fixed.

What's killing me is that it messes up even if its music stored on the device. If the wifi is on at all it does it.

yeah. Its smoother if its on the device but still getting jammed up. Slingbox, youTube and Netflix are almost unwatchable. I paid 30 dollars for the Slingbox app and I can't use it. For a long time I blamed them. Its bluetooth and WiFi mixed on android .period.

I mean it use to work fine. There usually lag with some apps but that didnt bug me much. I think right now this update just messed up the radios and will get fixed soon. Kinda like the GPS issue on the gnex.

Yes! Finally! It looks like the Google developers are finally giving this issue some attention. (http://img.tapatalk.com/d/12/11/20/6y9ygy3a.jpg)

I bought a bluetooth HDMX Jam yesterday. Hopefully 4.2.1 comes out before I give it to myself for Christmas.

Its funny. I bought my jam at Bed bath and whatever. 20 %.0ff coupon. It was my first BT speaker and the beginning of my WiFi BT plight. Some jerkoff ..can I say that? stole it when I left it with some food outside a place on a newspaper machine for like two minutes. They probably didn't even know what it was. I wish they would of just taken the eggrolls.

I have figured out a remedy to the sound skipping. If you turn off bluetooth and then back on it sometimes fixes the problem. It is hit or miss but better than nothing.

I've noticed that or if you turn WiFi off and then back on it helps sometimes.

I wonder if re-pairing the bluetooth device while streaming something over wifi will help. Depends on whether bt will channel hop around the wifi frequency. My router channel is set on auto so that might be an issue as well.

I tried re-pairing. It was hit or miss for me. Lately I have just been toggling BT of and on and it usually helps. Like Sarge just mentioned. Toggling WiFi sometimes works too. Matt I think there is something to your theory.. didn't you mention something about same frequencies or something? Can't remember exactly ..Now if there is a way to truly fix it. I have noticed that my Sling box immediately stutters with Bluetooth on. If I change the stream to low resolution which sucks it stutters but not as much. Either way its useless. The SlingBox is hardwired straight from my router. It works beautifully anywhere I am when there is good WiFi. Connect a portable speaker, instant garbage. The remedy is a wired speaker using the headphone jack as a line out but that is annoying.
Love the minds here. Very lucky.

I went the less expensive route, Creative D100, works great and sounds good. I have my Pioneer sound system if I really want vibrate the windows in my house.  ;D

I have a Hiwatt 200 if I want to break the windows in my neighbors house...

I'm just guessing, waiting for an update that will fix all problems and bring new ones.

Wifi and bluetooth are both 2.4ghz band. There's also 5ghz wifi but not for the nexus7.

I use the supertooth disco, without any hickups on jb 4.2.
Bose is a good unit, only to pricy.. The supertooth has 30 watts of power,
active subwoofer, and has the buttons you need  (forward. play, pause, back)
Battery lasts about 6 to 10 hours. I was pleasently surprised with this unit..

My proht headphones have no problems since 4.2.2. Listened to Pandora for 2 hours without a hiccup.
