Google Executive Chairman Eric Schmidt was on hand yesterday during a promotional event in Tokyo to announce the release of the Nexus 7 Tablet in Japan.  Selling for a price of 19,800 yen ($250) for 16GB model, Japan is the first asian country to receive the new tablet and it will be available to customers starting October 2.   Japan is a huge market for 'Android' downloads and currently is the third largest individual market for downloads from the Google Play Store.    The Nexus 7 is expected to sell very well there and the company simultaneously announced the availability of a variety of local language movies (including new catalogs from Sony Pictures and Paramount) and books for Japanese consumers to purchase via Google Play on their new tablets.   Interestingly, Google seems to have beaten tablet rival Amazon to the punch in Japan as it launch its Kindle in the country.   We'll be curious to see the sales numbers of the Nexus 7 in the Japanese market and have a hunch it'll do very well.
