Title: Factory Reset
Post by: arborij on October 03, 2012, 10:47:58 AM
As you aquire various apps, the time comes for all of us when one of those apps do not play in the sandbox well with the other ones, then decides to crash everything.  In order to fix it, you will occassionally need to perform a factory reset, thus wiping everything on the device, and start from a clean slate.  Attached below, please find the link to perform that action.

Sorry for the botched up link attachment.  The link works, but I didn't embed it correctly.  Oops, I should be working anyway.  ;D

Hi,
I read that the N7 has to have a usb connection to a computer for the reset.  No data has to be exchanged but a connection must be made.  Can any one please elaborate?

No the Nexus 7 can be reset from Settings or by powering down and accessing recovery mode and no usb connection is required to a computer. Before the recent update to 4.1.2 there was a bug that prevented you from entering the recovery using the power and volume buttons and I have read that some users found that it worked when connected to a computer by usb, which may be your source. At any point the bug was corrected with the 4.1.2 OTA.
