Title: Spam? In my notifications drop down screen...
Post by: RobInfinity on October 07, 2012, 10:14:57 AM
Can anyone tell me why I am suddenly getting spam showing up in my notifications pull down screen? Can anyone tell me how to make it stop?

Without more specifics, I would venture to guess that you have installed a free app, that was given permissions to generate the notifications. If so, you may be able to opt out of the notification offers or simply remove the app and stop them. On that note, it is always a good idea to look at the permissions that an app is granted when you install it.

Yes I agree with Prime, it'll be an app you've installed. Usually the notification will link to a website, you could try tapping which will open the browser because it could give some clues as to which app is the culprit.
Your other option would be uninstalling from your most recent installed application and then work your way back until you've found the culprit.

It was indeed an app, not sure which one but I trashed several I thought were iffy, and it stopped.

Is always a good idea to read the reviews on Google Play and when installing check the permissions too...
