Title: Easy way to turn off an App
Post by: gp123 on October 13, 2012, 01:14:39 PM
There must be an easy one-click way to turn off an App -- but I haven't found it.

I'm thinking specifically of "MusicPro".  Easy to start the music playing by tapping on an icon, but to stop the music I need to find the app screen that will allow me to access the right menu, and then tap "Quit"

Surely there must be an easier way.  Anyone know how?

If you use the app a lot, why not store it in your Favorites Tray.  That way it will open with one touch from any of your screens.

What about if you exit the app and then in the recently used screen, Swipe to the left or right. Does that close it completely?

How about running OS Monitor? Your app should show up near the top, and you just tap on it and select "Kill Process."

Swiping the app on the "recent apps" screen removes the app from that screen, but does not stop it from operating (playing current music selection).
Haven't tried the "kill process" recommendation from "bird".  Was under the impression that "kill" was a desperation measure that might cause harm to the process.

Seems that my request to "gently" stop a process is a common action that folks would want to perform.  Why so obscure?  Yet another undocumented android mystery!!

I must say that as wonderful as N7 is, it's most frustrating aspects are lack of good documentation and the immaturity of many of the apps in the Play catalog.

Some apps do close by swiping the recents tile, some don't.

I won't use the force close option in the app info screen, it's only really for force closing a problem app.
Temporarily install an OS monitor app, check whether after use the app is using CPU and if it's not then don't worry about it because Android will close it when it's ready too.
I'd just come out of the app with the back button, it's as close to a close button as you'll get.

Usually music or radio apps that are running are shown in the notification box. Drag it down and close the app.
