Hi,
I will be using the Nexus 7 primarily to watch t.v. shows and movies. I will be using headphones. I know that for the price I can't expect movie theater quality audio, but is it going to majorly turn me off? I hope someone here has been able to test-drive one and can fill me in.
Thanks,
-Stacey

Oh, I think sound quality with headphones will actually be very good. I wouldn't worry about that at all. In fact, even without headphones the Nexus 7 has stereo speakers and while they're not gonna give you much bass they'll do in a pinch. Several companies have also announced audio docks are coming out with high quality amplified speakers that you can 'dock' the Nexus 7 into and enjoy movies on. You might want to look into one of these if you're going to be doing a lot of movie/tv watching and music playing.

What he said...
The critical component to your sound quality is going to be the headphones themselves.

Thanks for your responses. I went ahead and ordered one of those cases someone on here mentioned earlier. I guess now I'm going to make the final move and order the 16GB model. I want to pre-order it so I can get that $25 gift certificate, and if what I've read online is correct they might start shipping on July 12th or so, so I want to order before then. :)

I used Talkatone to call my dad last night on my N7, and yeah the audio was very quiet. Also doing a Skype test shows the same there too even though playing music through Google Music or Youtube is very loud. Not sure why the difference.

Have you used any telephony apps yet? It sounds great in Pandora, Youtube, Spotify, Google Music, etc, but for me the sound is very low on Google Hangouts, Google Voice (through Talkatone), listening to voice mails through Google Voice, and Skype. I'm not sure why the difference...

I just got my N7 last week - just tried listening to one downloaded album and was disappointed by very low sound level, even at max volume, over ear buds. Thought I would try other ear buds/headphones and other files before concluding. I hope it's an isolated case!

Where did you get the music from?

You might want to do a bit of searching; there's a thread on here about that issue.

The sound quality is exceptional. I have Monster Turbine Pro "in ear speakers" which are high enough quality to show up less than stellar hardware. Asus have done us proud.
