Well we knew it was going to happen. As many of you know, Google's special 'The Playground Is Open' event that was supposed to take place today has been rescheduled due to Hurricane Sally hitting the northeast. Among the expected announcements at the event are the new 32GB Nexus 7, a possible 3G Nexus 7 and the intro of the Nexus 4 phone and Nexus 10 tablet. Well it seems that despite the event being cancelled, retailers were already prepped with the 32GB Nexus 7 and the requisite price drops so you can now purchase the 32GB N7 for $249...the same price that the 16GB used to sell at. The 16GB is now only $199....quite a deal.
On the Google Play website interestingly both the 8GB and 16GB are not available and listed as 'coming soon'. We're assuming this means the company is revamping its offerings and it'll be interesting to see if the 8GB remains available at all...perhaps at a reduced price ($99 or $149 anyone?). It will also be interesting to see if the 3G version is available. Both Office Depot and GameStop are advertising the 32GB and 16GB Nexus 7s at their new prices and most have them in stock as well. Let us know if you pick up one of the new 32GB models in the comments below.
