Title: Google search problems
Post by: bjs229 on October 31, 2012, 07:25:48 PM
I have problems with Google search. Voice or text takes forever to give me results. I have tried several wifi hookups and I even cleared the app which just made Google Now start from scratch. This used to happen to me when I had a Bluetooth speaker hooked up and I would have to disconnect it. Bluetooth is off now. Any ideas?

The only way I really can search is within the browser.

Are you having problems with the voice assistant, or just the browser?

In voice assistant, is your language set properly in settings? Have you downloaded offline speech recognition?

I am also having problems with Google search. The problem is that it's not working...at all. Earlier today I got an update via play store for Google search and ever since it has not worked. I uninstalled the update via settings/apps and Google search worked one time after and then stopped working again. Google now will give me cards and voice response but no Google search results. Anyone know what's going on?

Have you tried settings >apps >google search, and clearing the cache? Then clearing the data?

I'm running Paranoid Android & the Google search app, no problem.

I am having the same exact problem. I thought I was my ROM so I just did a factory reset and wiped everything. Flashed a different ROM and still having the problem. Im wondering if its a server problem with google.

I am glad I am not the only one I was getting pissed. It is really annoying trying to search now.

IDK what to say. I'm running the current version of google search, 2.1.12.516912 (210020112),and I'm having no problems.

It might be like the "insufficient memory" errors I got. I could only fix it by restoring to a bugless backup, or doing a factory reset.

I have just gotten an email from Google and they are aware of the problem and working on it. I am just wondering how it can be intermittent as far as users.

Unreal. I received an answer to a post in the Google forums that they were looking into the problem and now it has vanished. WTF? Whatever. I am back on track.

Does "back on track" mean the voice assistant works?

I interpreted your message to mean the Google message disappeared. Unless Google sent you an update without notifying you, this self-healing Nexus 7 is hard to accept.

Mine works fine now.
I sold that machine and have a 32 now but the problem was fixed a couple of days ago.

I would post on Google forums about it. There is a thread on the subject. I posted and my machine was magically working after like 6 hours.

@bjs229  Can you give me a URL for the Google forum you used?  I have been unable to find a Nexus7 forum that belongs to Google
