Title: Ready to unlock root 32.
Post by: bjs229 on November 03, 2012, 12:14:45 AM
I don't see my build number in the choices. Any ideas? The Nexus upgraded itself to 4.1.2 when I start it. I want to unlock and root and add my backup if possible. I get a fast boot error when I hook her up. Here we go again. Rookie time. Lol

Ok figured it out. Used another build number and everything went smoothly. I am updated and rooted with TWRP. I was wondering how to reinstall my apps like a mirror image. I have titanium but couldn't figure out how to restore a new device to specs of a different device. When I would try and access my backups on Dropbox thru Titanium it would try and make me upload each file individually. That would take forever. I didn't see a batch type option. I have never used Titanium to restore before. I just use it to backup.
I had the idea that I was going to flash one of my Nandroid backups but then it dawned on me that I would probably have problems because of the different size drives. So I am stuck reinstalling everything by hand. It is time consuming but I love getting to know my bigger new friend.

Note if you are running 4.1.2 and you want to root your Nexus 7 select "Any Build" from the Nexus 7 device list in NRT.

I tried that and I kept getting caught up with a quick boot error. I read somewhere in Wugfreshs thread about changing the build to one of the others in the list. It's not in front of me now. As soon as I changed it I was fine. I hope it doesn't cause any problems.

Let me know which one you used, the NRT topic on XDA says to use "Any Build.

I came across a similar issue. I had to unplug the N7, go into settings> developer options, then plug it back in. After that it recognized fastboot mode. I didn't change a thing, but it worked after a couple times of unplugging it.

I suspect that the 32 GB model is not recognized as an adb device initially, I would suggest checking device manager to make sure that the 32GB shows up as an Android phone. I don't have a 32GB model to verify but it could be verified with the adb devices command.

The adb commands worked, but the fastboot commands initially did not, so 'adb reboot bootloader' worked, while 'fastboot oem unlock' would not.

Interesting, but that is one that the NRT developer is reportedly working on.

First impressions. Love the extra space. It unbelievable, but I have that same bit of screen lift where I can grab it with my fingernail in the same spot. Nothing major. I also noticed the screen lightning issue once or twice today. Both are issues I learned to live with on my other one and didn't ruin the experience for me. I just put 10 gig of Karaoke on here and have like 15gigs of free space. I am happy.
Oh. I put the 16 on CL and blew it out for $150 to help cover the cost of this one.
