Hey guys,
I recently bought a nexus 7 and I've been encountering some problems with the brightness.
When I watch a video, the screen slowly dims down to a point where i can't see anything. When I go to the brightness settings and turn autobrightness on, the screen turns off. if i use the brightness scale and scale it to low, the screen slowly turns dim.
anyone having these issues?

Turn off auto! Make the screen as bright as you need it to watch comfortably. If things change then you have a problem.

If your new nexus 7 is not in perfect working order I would exchange it until you get one that is.
This may be a voltage problem to the screen caused by a failing component.
The store should have a return policy, your alternative is repair which can take months while you twiddle your thumbs or buy a new tablet.
The only time my screen dims is when it's about to sleep, try changing the setting for sleep to a higher value. Look for an option in your video player that will prevent sleeping.
