Title: Recent Euro Buyers To Get ₤25 Asus 'Voucher' Due To Price Drop Of Nexus 7 Models

Good news folks...well at least for recent European Nexus 7 owners that were a bit disgruntled with the recent price drop that Google and Asus announced when they came out with the 32GB variant of the Nexus7.   A number of 8GB and 16GB buyers were a bit peeved when it seemed they had paid $199 and $249 for their tablets only to see the prices dropt to $199/16GB and $249/32GB...and the 8GB get discontinued.   Well Asus europe is offering a £25 for recent buyers that can be used at Asus's online store to purchase accessories like a case or extra charger.

Now you will have to a bit of work to get this voucher.   First, you'll have to register at Asus's member site.  You'll also have to provide proof of purchase such as a receipt.  This offer also is only offered to those that purchased their Nexus 7's from Asus, Google or 'our physical channels and its online shops'.  You'll have to read the details of the offer to make sure you qualify...but most should.  You'll also have to submit all the required info by November 30th and use your voucher before December 31st 2012.

Now the above offer is only for Europe and the UK at this time.  There's no word if Google or Asus will be offering a similar voucher in the U.S. ...although we wouldn't be surprised if they did.   But if you did recently buy a Nexus 7 in the UK and the rest of Europe and want to learn more head on over to the link below and let us know how it turns out and what you buy with it.

I bought my 16Gb Nexus 7 I am July, so do I still qualify?

Tried registering, but it said my serial number (Settings->About Tablet->Status) was incorrect.

I went through the registration process not knowing if I would qualify for the voucher as I purchased my N7 from Argos, but I got as far as submitting my receipt when I looked into the ASUS Store and all there is for the Nexus 7 is a cover, in 6 different colours, at £15. I had already got a very useful magnetic cover with a pen thingy from Amazon so I wont be taking up the offer. A voucher for Google Play Store would have been a more acceptable offer, however I'll just seethe quietly to myself every time I use my Nexus 7  :'(

Guys I was having the same problem, I was inputting the serial number under Settings> About tablet> Status> Serial number. I was having the same problems, I even sent ASUS an email about it but I finally sussed it. The serial number isn't the one in setting or the CSSN on the box or warranty paperwork it's the SSN found on the box or the warranty paperwork and my N7 is now registered.

Wahoo...

I tried registering with Asus for a motherboard and my tablet. I even used my box. It is a wild goose chase and a total waste of time. I spent almost two hours on that annoying website.

I never expected anything back and this is an amazing gesture of good faith by them. I have to say I am surprised. You would think if they offered it in one area they would do so in another. I sold my original 16 in its box to upgrade to the 32. I do however have the receipt. Thinking back to when I thought u had to register for my warranty, I could never figure out how how to input my serial number on the Asus site I am however a member. I think. Lol.

Nice one. Will try it.

Bit poor on ASUS's part as their sites tells you to get from Status.

Finally got mine registered, using the serial number on the box (thanks JayJ), but when I send my proof of purchase to ASUS, I get an undeliverable email back saying:

"The recipient's mailbox is full and can't accept messages now"

Typical.

All I got in reply from ASUS was an email with a code for 20% off at their shop??

Not to mention I can't sign in to the shop, I started my account with Webstorage but if I use my email to sign in it tells me that the wrong email or password was used??

Aarrrgggghhhhh.....

Did you not get the £25 voucher email?

As someone previously said, the ASUS shop only has the cases for the Nexus 7, which I already have.

Pretty poor for ASUS, but it's what I have come to expect from them.

Thanks very much to the forum for finding this offer that slightly makes up for the affront we have suffered.

Great to have the tips on this thread about registering and serial nos, but it still took 90 minutes.

I just get an e-mail reply in Chinese with my proof of purchaase attached.

What is going on ??

It seems my curious Chinese reply from Asus looks like it is just an
Acknowledgement. I assume when the people get back to work after
The weekend they will be sending out our £ 25 vouchers right away.

Now we can get down to deciding how to spend it. It is only for the Asus
website where there seems to be only two Nexus 7 accessories, the case
At £ 14.99 and the charger at £ 19.99. When you put things in your basket
A 6.00 delivery charge is automatically added so you cannot even get
The charger completely free.

A bit expensive for a charger isn't it?

You have to send ASUS a PROOF OF PURCHASE before they will send the voucher out.

I was unable to send it over the weekend as their MAILBOX was FULL !!

ASUS UK (https://twitter.com/asusuk) just tweeted the following:

"Just to clarify - the ASUS Nexus 7 coupon offer is not available to customers who purchased their device from the Google Play store."

I'm wondering if Google will do something for their customers.

This is a bombshell!

Cannot believe it. Feel totally let down. I bought mine from Argos. If
These people are quite happy to use major distributors they should
Treat all customers equally. After all the time spent registering and then
Getting my receipt scanned and e-mailed, then trying to navigate
The Asus site this is just too much.

Shocking!

So, why have Google decided to discriminate against non-US buyers of the tablet. Seems like US buyers are getting a $50 refund.
I bought mine in July from Ebuyer.com and I think that everyone who purchased one before the recent price  reduction should be compensated.

It gets even worse with the news that you can now on any High Street in the UK
get the new 32 GB Nexus 7 for £ 180.

Currys, Dixons and Comet have all dropped their price on this item, while us poor
saps paid £ 199 just a month ago for 16GB. Mine is now 97 % full and I could really use the extra space.

Comet are selling the 32Gb version at £179.99 if you can find one, and you can only now purchase in-store due to them being in administration.

Tesco have the 16Gb version @ £189.99, whilst ASDA have it at £169 for 16Gb, although it's "Out of stock", and £199 for 32Gb.

Only if you bought it within 15 days before the 29th, whereas ASUS haven't put a date limit on their offer. So long as you bought it before the 29th.

A cop out, I hope ASUS are inundated with complaints that they're leaving GP customers out in the cold.

So to summarise, if you bought from an authorized ASUS dealer any time before the 29th your entitled to a little something but if you bought direct from Google Play your can only get something if you bought in a 15 day window...

How much is your time worth? In the time that many have spent searching for how to cash in on this offer, they could have earned enough to pay for this rebate several times over...

When you purchased your N7 you were making an agreement that price you paid was fair market value. Now that conditions have changed, you shouldn't have reason to complain. The rebate is a courtesy, not an obligation. So if you don't qualify. To bad... so sad... cry a river, build a boat and get over it!

I have no issue with the price I paid but when I did I wasn't too know that the price would drop so quickly, I did however enjoy my N7 pretty much from launch so I have no regrets.
What I think is unfair is the misinformation from ASUS over this offer and the general unfairness of the different offers from Google and ASUS,  some will gain from this whilst others will not. Either everybody should benefit or nobody should...

And I certainly am not crying, I actually thought that last part was just plain rude and uncalled for. Everybody is entitle to a rant or to complain...if you don't like it, don't read it...

This thread is starting to get hot... No need for that.
Luckily, I had my receipt handy and found out quickly that the I don't qualify for the offer. I can say that my time is worth a lot, so the hoops I had to jump thru when trying to just register my device back in the day pissed me off. Asus flat out doesn't make it easy to communicate after the sale. It was cool of them to offer this incentive but why organize  it so it makes people resentful?
By the way. When a company decides that they have to give away millions of dollars, I think internally  they feel It's an obligation not a courtesy.

Jay, I hope that you didn't take that as a personal attack. It was not directed at you. I was just chiming in on all the complaints that I've seen. Not just here. Its all over the web how unfair this is and how people are filing complaints with Asus.  I guess I just had heard enough of it already. Please don't take offense to my rant...

I too have heard people flat out complain about the price and upgrades and etc. I agree. I don't like to hear people that are complaining .This tablet is a bargain. I never perceived JJ s post as complaining. There was an almost tangible feel in your post Loocid so I guess last post feels the brunt.
I bought my 16 it was a bargain. The 32 came out, I sold mine for a 100 dollar loss. That is electronics. I'm about to buy a 10 and prolly take another loss.
