Title: Ultimate Backup Tool for Android - Root no longer needed!
Post by: CBers on November 13, 2012, 11:01:16 AM
Just been sent a link to this tool by my son, so I thought I'd spread the knowledge.

Quoting Gigadroid from the XDA thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1844032):

"With this tool, you can completely backup your device without root or unlocked bootloader. I have tested it so far only with my Galaxy Nexus, but it should also work with other devices running Android 4.0+. So you can unlock your bootloader without losing your data. With version 1.1, not all parts of the program will be downloaded, only the necessary. The most tools in the "Tools" section are for the Galaxy Nexus, but more devices will follow soon."

I haven't used it myself, as I am rooted and use Titanium Backup Pro, but it might be useful to enable a backup from my Nexus 7 to my (eagerly awaited) Nexus 10.

Just a word of caution if you are a US Verizon customer, the Verizon Samsung Galaxy S3 is not a Nexus phone and has a locked bootloader. Therefore a different tool is required to unlock the bootloader.

Don't think it's a Nexus-only backup tool.

I was only commenting on the option in the tools section to unlock the bootloader using fastboot, which will not work on the Verizon Samsung Galaxy S3 and is often confusing to many owners.

Oh right, sorry.
