Title: G'Day
Post by: jodi_au on July 12, 2012, 09:25:41 PM
I ordered a 16GB Nexus 7 yesterday from my local EB Games (Australia). The release date here is 27th July. It's a little more expensive here. The RRP is $319, but EB Games is selling them for $298 (inc tax) and I don't have to pay shipping.

I'm currently living in an iOS world with an iPhone 4S and iPad (3). I hope no one holds this against me. ;)  This will be my first Android device. I would sometimes jailbreak my iOS devices to open them up, but I am looking forward to having a device that is more open to begin with. Although, I expect to root it for USB-Flash drive access.

Welcome Jodi!  I think you'll be very happy with your Nexus 7 and I look forward to your comparisons between Android and iOS once you get your tablet.   Should be interesting convo. :)

Welcome to the forum jodi_au. I think you will be pleased with the development we will see for the rooted N7. XDA Developers is buzzing with activity.

Howdy jodi_au :)

I'm anxious to do some development for the N7, but given I don't plan on rooting mine it'll be more general apps then tinkering under the hood.  Also since you're coming from the iOS world I'd be curious to see some comparisons between the two systems.

So once again welcome!

Thanks everyone for the welcome messages.
Yes, it will be very interesting to compare the devices. I do really like my iOS devices and they have some great apps. iOS is really easy to use and since I am often tech support for family and friends, I tend to recommend iOS devices to them. I might find the same is the case with Android, I am yet to find out....but my point is that I had an iPhone, so family all went for iPhones too so as I could help them with them when they needed help.

Some comparisons between the two would be interesting....but it kind of feels like I'd be asking for trouble. People have very strong opinions on that, one way or the other.

LanceJ....how did you go with pickup of your Nexus 7?

G'Day back. Where in .au? I lived in Brisbane for a while. My daughter was born there, decades ago. Hope you like the N7. Today's the day, isn't it! No worries. She'll be right.
