Title: Laggy Moments
Post by: bjs229 on November 15, 2012, 09:51:09 PM
I don't know if it is from the update but in have had a few real laggy moments. Almost frozen. They happened mostly when starting from the lock screen. I never use a lock screen but was testing that 3d looking widget. Anyway, I dumped it and seem to be running better. I have also noticed that Bluetooth speaker is causing a stutter when used with my Wi-Fi connection. I had this issue before with my 16. Wifi connection is cutting in and out so YouTube and Google music is really annoying.

Same here, and I agree that the Google Music issue on bluetooth speakers is annoying.

Still have lag when trying to use the keyboard. Annoying. Dumping apps as we speak.

Did you ever get to the bottom of your lag problem? My wife's N7 becomes almost unresponsive at times. The only response it will give is the notification pulldowns and soft keys. The launcher itself totally lags.

It happens mostly when I am listening to music using bluetooth. Then if i try and use Google search or voice it sometimes happens. I have noticed that if something is being downloaded in the background that it really can get bad. Almost frozen at times, unresponsive for seconds at a time.  Lagging and then Surging text is really annoying. I have been reading that the bluetooth/WiFi sound problem is a known issue and is pretty widespread now.  I went nuts trying to figure out what I could have been doing wrong because when I asked about it here months ago it seemed everyone else was OK.

Try going into Google Currents settings and disabling background sync.   That fixed up the lag I was having.

Disabling Google Currents sync is good advice. That helped me back in the day a little bit but this problem goes beyond that.

There is an easy way of clearing your tablet's cache, sorry for not crediting the member, but here (http://www.pocketables.com/2012/11/how-to-fix-extreme-lag-after-updating-your-asus-nexus-7-to-android-4-2.html) is a guide on fixing it. It's from Pocketables, if you're wondering.

Thanks Eduardo
I tried this measure as well. I can't say whether it worked or not because the lag is/was so intermittent.  I can say that since doing it there is less to complain about.

I cleared the cache for the launcher. Seemed to work.

Is that different than clearing the cache inside of recovery? I tried it again and still have lag.

I'm not sure.  I think it is though. On recovery you are clearing the cache from the framework, but i don't think it does anything with the apps. I just went to manage apps, selected the app that was lagging, and cleared the cache. All good.
