Hope to find some help with my latest problem (after update to 4.2)
After the update i can't lock my screen anymore. When i lock, the screen goes out for a second, and then pops up again. It drains my battery.
The screen pops on and off every 1/2 to 1 minutes.
My settings are oké. They set to 2 min before he goes to sleep, but my device doesn't sleep, it stays awake! Who can help me with this big problem?
My N7 is NOT rooted.
-
When you say lock, you mean press the power button or use a magnet?
-
I push the power button the same way that I did before, but the screen pops up immediately after I push the button.
How can I use a magnet? Maybe that is a solution.....
-
Is there a cover on your nexus?
-
I found out how to use a magnet. I taped it in my bookcover and it works!
But my tablet still try to pop up ones in a wile you see the screen flash and disappears again.
This is a solution for now, but not for long. I hope to solve the problem with the software.
Any suggestions?
-
I've not heard of anybody with this problem since the 4.2 update so I would hazard a guess that it's an application clashing with the update, you could try removing some applications until it locks or do a factory data reset but this will completely wipe your device.
-
Glad the magnet gave you a temporary fix but I would take JJz advice.
-
If i do a complete data recovery, does it wipe also my saved files? Do i have to backup all my own files?
And do you think it is the software or maybe my nexus is broke?
-
Yes it wipes your files. I am not sure as far as hardware or software. Can't hurt to try and reset thhe device before you take it back to the store just for your own knowledge and ours.
-
I indeed think the best option is to reset my N7. It takes me some time to backup my files and apps, but when i done, i come back to you and let you know if my problem is solve. Can take a few days. Thank you so far.
-
Thank god my problem is solved! I did restore my N7 to the fabric settings.
Now I have Android 4.2 whitout that nasty bug.
I'm happy again. :-)

Not that i know about.
@Bryn I'm glad that I'm not the only one wit a divice that not will go to sleep. LOL
-
Not sure if you have checked Google Currents. That app will update in the background pretty often it seems if not disabled in its settings. I'm not sure if it actually will wake your device but its worth a look.
I notice my machine runs better if I update that app manually.
-
Currents is well known to prevent devices from sleep thus consuming battery, personally I have disabled Currents...

I have Google Currents running and that is not the problem. I don't know what is the problem, because i did not put all the apps back (yet).
If I ever find out what app is causing problems, i let you know.
-
Did you change the settings to keep it from updating in the background?
-
No, but currents does not wake up my device.
Something strange is happend today, i have installed 4.2 and today i was ask tot do a update tot 4.2? I did not do that, i already have 4.2. Very strange......
-
It's the 4.2.1 update, mine said it was 4.2 but I knew 4.2.1 was out so updated anyway...

That screen only pops up when you accept the OTA. I wouldn't have noticed, but I updated my wife's through the conventional method.

My screen does not pop up anymore. But I did not put every app back (yet). Hope it stays this way.
-
Glad you have it almost figured out. How many more apps do you have to troubleshoot?
BTW,How do you pronounce your name? Sort of like Ivy the plant in English?

I think I have maybe 25 apps (mostly games) That I did not put back. If I find the app who did cause the problem I will let you know, but maybe I never know because I do not put all the apps back.
And yes, you pronounce my name like Ivy but you write Yvi.
-
Cool name. I was in the Netherlands twice. Took the train from Paris to Brussels. Then thru to Rotterdam and Amsterdam. I love it there!
Interested to know which app is the culprit.
