I'm new to nexus 7 and android OS but as the subject says my rotate lock and settings icons that used to be in the notification bar are now gone. I just got my nexus a couple of days ago and I think I've gone through 2 updates. I'm not sure if an update was the cause or not. I just noticed the were no longer there. All of my Google searches on the issue havent come up with any answers.
Anyone have any suggestions on how to get them back?

Welcome.
There is a pull down menu on the top right. Did you try that?

I believe bjs has hit the nail on the head so to speak, notifications are now found on the left pull down and quick settings on the right pull down...

To get the notifications bar I have to put my finger at the top in the center and pull down. It does seem to fly out from the left more than the right but still I have to put my finger in the middle. If I try to pull down from the left or the right edge of the screen nothing happens.
Still I think what I am displaying is the notificaitons bar. It has the Time at the top left of the bar, then the day and date, and then the 3 horizontal lines that are the Delete All icon. That's it. No settings icon or rotate lock icon.

I will also say that although I would prefer to have the factory icons back but after some reading and looking in the Apps store I found a free app called Rotation Locker. I have that icon on my home page and it seems to be doing the trick. I also put the settings icon on my home page. So, I have a work around but as I said I would prefer for it to have the factory icons where it's supposed to.

The settings is on the right side. Seriously. That's where your rotation is. I thought we explained it pretty well.

There are pull downs on BOTH sides. No need for a rotation app either.

Place your finger roughly where the Wi-Fi icon is and drag down...

Thanks JayJ....
That was it. Putting my finger right around the wifi icon and coming down displays a sort of settings type bar with that info. If you put your finger all the way over the the right or left corner and pull down nothing happens (which is what I was doing). Come over just a little and it works. Although I still could've sworn when those icons used to be on the notifications bar.
Thanks for the heads up.

No worries...
To be honest it got me when I first updated my N7 to 4.2, I had watched all these videos on the Nexus 4 I expected the Nexus 7 to behave the same...:-[

Ahh....so maybe the icons were there in my original build of 4.x of the OS and then once it updated to 4.2 it changed to be in a different bar.

Originally in 4.1.x, the notification pull down had a rotation lock button and a settings button.
