Title: Jelly Bean 4.2.1
Post by: CBers on November 27, 2012, 02:21:44 PM
Just received an OTA update of Jelly Bean 4.2.1 on my Nexus 10 and Nexus 7.

I assume this is to fix a few of the Jelly Bean 4.2 issues.

Can't do my Nexus 7 as battery is too depleted, but the OTA on my Nexus 10 seems to have installed OK.

Lost root, but VOODOO ROOT KEEPER restored root OK.

Will try Nexus 7 a bit later.

It's the December birthday bug fix...

I've got it, for anybody that checks and does not have an update available go to Apps and clear the data on Google Services Framework. Did it for me...

Is there a list somewhere of what 4.2.1 fixes or adds beyond 4,2 ??

Just OTA updated my Nexus 7 now.

Again, lost root but restored via VOODOO ROOT KEEPER.

Update to 4.2.1 via OTA
Lost Root, re-root with NRT 1.6
NOW Stickmount does not work, show zero files
Anyone has same problems ?
Wish I did not update

Stickmount does work on 4.2.1, I just tested it. Try unmounting and remounting or unmounting, removing OTG, plugging in OTG again and mounting...did it work because I've been having this problem since the Stickmount 4.2 fix was released.

I'm with bjs229 --  I really need Bluetooth fixed. Haven't been able to use my wireless keyboard since the 4.2 update. It recognizes the kb, then immediately drops the bt connection. I've deleted the device, and then did the recognition again -- still the same-o.

No worries, I'm glad it worked but just so you know unmounting and remounting is much quicker than rebooting... ;)

I'm passing up this upgrade.  In fact, I replaced Android 4.2 on the N7 I'm giving to my son, and his system will be Paranoid Android 2.54, based on Android 4.1.2.

Just tested booting into recovery mode (TWRP) and all seems OK.

I lost root and custom recovery from the OTA update, restored root with Voodoo OTA RootKeeper and reflashed TWRP 2.3.2.1 with Goo Manager.
Can reboot to recovery from Goo Manager and cold boot to recovery with the volume down and power button to reach bootloader and selecting recovery but stock recovery appears to still not have been fixed, before reflashing TWRP from Goo Manager booting to recovery gave me an Android on his back with red diamond and explanation mark, obviously not a priority for Google...

I must admit to reflashing TWRP before testing recovery so I might have lost it as well.

Don't forget you need to  rename /system/recovery-from-boot.p and install-recovery.sh, or your recovery will be overwritten on reboot.

I'm not the lowest of the low, but I am the slowest of the slow.

Didn't do it on 4.2 or 4.2.1.

Did after 4.1.2 though.

I did this on my 16GB N7 but not on my 32GB when updating to 4.1.2 or 4.2, just checked and it's showing as "recovery-from-boot.bak" so must be done automatically within Goo Manager?

CWM, now prompts you to retain your custom recovery and does the work for you to retain CWM Recovery. Admittedly, I am using the CWM touch recovery, so it may not be available in the text version.

CWM touch here as well.

If you can't force the update, you can download it from my dropbox.

This has been around for while but new for me. I never noticed that if you hold your finger on a recent thumbnail of an app that you get a menu. Man. Where have I been? Cool shortcut.
