Title: Battery flat in morning
Post by: bryn on November 29, 2012, 05:10:14 PM
My battery was down to 1% charge this morning although was still showing around 30% the night before.  I use a case with a magnet which puts the Nexus in sleep mode when the case is closed, and an elastic strap ensures it is closed securely.

This has happened once before.

On occasions, but not every night,  the battery monitoring app I use has showed the rate of discharge suddenly increasing abruptly at about 4 a.m.

I know one of the news apps tries to update in the night, but the magnet switch should ensure the Nexus stays in sleep mode with plenty of charge left.

Any ideas?

Check in Settings , WIFI tap the 3 dots on the top right then tap Advanced , tap on keep wifi on during sleep and select Never if it is not already checked .
Also there are many apps that can prevent the tab from sleeping . You could also try Auto Airplane mode in the Playstore , It will help keep the wifi off during sleep if an app tries to use it.

As you can see, sleep mode is not the same as powering off.  If you want to assure no battery usage during the night, you need to power your N7 off.  Sleep mode keeps Wi-Fi, app updates, mail notifications, bluetooth, gps, and apps like Facebook stay on and consume battery power.

If you are not going to use the machine at night I would turn it off. Leaving it on but asleep will still use power. How much power ? Obviously, too much.

I stupidly had nfc turned on for some insane reason. Battery better now. Settings-wireless-more.
Anyone actually use nfc?

And google currents, set to sync when charging only. Nice if that was a universal option.

It's great if you have two NFC devices for transferring pictures but that's all I've used it for...
