Title: Case or no case?
Post by: bryn on November 29, 2012, 05:15:36 PM
I like the protection my case gives the Nexus, and it was very cheap on ebay.

I like the convenience of the magnet in the case which puts the Nexus in sleep mode when the case is closed.

I like the way the case lets the Nexus stand up on the desk.

However, I liked the Nexus better for holding in my hand when I had no case!

What do you prefer?

I'm gonna get me one of these...

I would LOVE to have the map print fancy one, but I can't see spending $150 on a friggin case. The plain one looks dope enough.

Case for sure! I have one of the ones from amazon which has three position landscape modes and a stylus loop and a magnetic cover. It's fine holding in my hand for portrait mode also. I think it was $15-17.00 shipped.

Cases !!!

I like using my 8 bux keyboard case at home with a USB hub, mouse, external storage, etc all hooked up (mite try using a network adapter too).

I also ordered a Moko Slim case for travelling - the keyboard case is very bulky.

I was a cheap case guy but that failed. My next device is going to be signed by John Travolta.

Check out the Blurex Ultra-Slim Case on Amazon for $14.99. I've had this case for two months and it works great. Tight fit adds little bulk; tips to three positions on landscape; has a strech strap for one-hand use. The things gets everyday use and shows no signs of wear. Best I've seen. Especially for $15.

I just ordered the Portenzo http://shop.portenzo.com/nexus (http://shop.portenzo.com/nexus) book case. I'm excited about it. Looks like a very beautiful, functional case. I REALLY wanted the cool old map leather bound one, but I can't spend $150 on a case for a $200 device... that would be stupid.

Can I ask what is probably a stupid question? This case has the sleep on/off magnet, as well as "strong magnets that hold the cover closed".

Is it a potential problem to have several strong magnets so close to a computer? Could that not cause data loss or something?

By the way, what I meant by John Travolta was the boy in the plastic bubble. Sorry.:-[

They'd only be a problem if there was magnetic media in the tablet, such as a hard drive or old diskettes.  We don't have that problem, so it's perfectly safe.

One of the best features of N7 is its slim profile which gives the the ability to be comfortably held in one hand.  Would not want to add the bulk of a case to that experience.
That said, need something to protect the glass from smudges and the inevitable bangs.

My choice was a "genuine (imitation) leather" slipcase which covers N7 and clip-on stylus.  Purchased on ebay for about 5 bucks (delivered).  All that I need.  I'll store seldom used accessories elsewhere.

Well thats one of things I look for in a case. I feel folio cases get in the way and disrupt the form factor of the tablet. I like the gumdrop but it can be clunky at times and can prevent the tablet from being easily pocketable. I would recommend a tpu case and the gumdrop both.

Technically no. It has flash memory instead. Its kind of like a solid state drive.

I have a M Edge case.   Very satisfied.   Magnet turn off /on,  easy to slide 7 in  or out of case.  Not the cheapest case available but it meets my needs.

The blurex case says it comes with a screen protector. Does that mean it comes with one of those stick on screen protectors? If so, how well does it work? Does it prevent finger smudges on the glass screen?

Another question. I went to amazon to order it and noticed the moko case which seems to have a strap to help carry it. Does the blurex have something similar to carry it with? (http://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/04/17/5u7aqaty.jpg)

I have this case:

http://www.amazon.com/Poetic-SLIMLINE-Portfolio-Android-Version/dp/B009OKZ50C/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1366207121&sr=8-1&keywords=nexus+7+case+green+poetic (http://www.amazon.com/Poetic-SLIMLINE-Portfolio-Android-Version/dp/B009OKZ50C/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1366207121&sr=8-1&keywords=nexus+7+case+green+poetic)

I like it a lot, except that it does not have a stylus loop.  I don't like to clip my stylus on because I worry about the part that is now on the inside, rubbing against the screen.  Also, I wonder if this case provides enough protection; the last two times I've carried my N7 in my bag the battery connection has come loose.  But, would any case help prevent that from happening?  Its frustrating to have a portable device that I can't take out and about with me.
