Title: Video format
Post by: meddyliol on December 05, 2012, 04:04:45 AM
I have just bought a Nexus 7 and am having problems with what video format to use. I am using HD Player and sometimes mp4 files work OK and sometimes avi files will work. This must be something to do with the encoding but what? I currently use WinX HD Video Converter for Mac. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Brian

Welcome to the forum!
The nexus 7 should decode mp4 and mkv in hardware. I use MX player and BS player for more options, when they have difficulty in hw mode they drop to software decode. There are options for hw+ and system decode as well.

I don't know why an mp4 created on a mac doesn't work. Maybe we're comparing apples to androids.
Is the mp4 h264?

May Also be due to bit rate.
