Title: BR rip format?
Post by: h2ofun on December 05, 2012, 07:14:22 PM
So the nexus is 1280 by 800.  But when I encode, the ipad setting is 1280 by 544(?).  So, is this the best on can do and keep the movie in the correct aspect ratio for the N7?

The iPad ratios are distorted. The screens are not proportional to conventional devices.

Are you ripping for the sole propose of playing it on the N7? What applications are you using? What codecs are you planning on using?

I always keep the movies original ratio when I'm ripping using WinX Platinum and let MX Player display it, if it's in a letterbox format then so be it becsuse I prefer to experience the movie in it's intended ratio as much as possible.

Correct me if I'm wrong here but I was under the impression AVI was a lower quality format than MPEG4?

If you use BS player, you can pinch and zoom the video to fit. Or exit with a small pop-up video that floats over the other apps. Use multi-pass encoding for better quality at the expense of time.
