Is it possible to remove the google toolbar at top of screen?

The bar allows you to not only search the web but pretty much everywhere on your tablet and use voice commands. Why does that ruin the tablet?

Install a 3rd party Launcher like Apex Launcher or Nova Launcher, I loads more customization than stock including the removal of the Search bar...

Took the words right out if my mouth. The google bar is a part of the launcher app. This is a perfect example of why people root. If you find this bar annoying, you can remove the stock launcher and replace it with the launcher of your choice.  If you're real savvy, you can use adb commands to pull the png file of the image and modify it to your liking, then push it back.

I tried Nova last night and I just didn't have the patience to figure it all out. I felt like the pilot died on a 747 and they asked me to fly the airplane. @stickshaker

Nova Launcher for me is the missing link, but variations from the stock launcher comes down to personal preference.
