Title: First Time Charge for Nexus 7
Post by: bluesky on December 09, 2012, 08:56:09 PM
Hi,
Does anyone know how many hours do i need to charge for the nexus 7 for the first time charge? When i unbox the nexus 7, it only have 20% battery power left..

Is it the same like the first time charge for those handphone, that's charge for 8hours before you use it?
Or just Fully Charged for the nexus 7 for the first time charge will do?

Thank you in advance :)

Hello and welcome.
I would advise plugging your Nexus into the wall and not mess with it for a couple hours or until it is fully charged. I don't have an exact time for how long mine takes to charge from empty, but it is in that couple hour time frame. I hate to wait but suffer through charging my battery full before using any device the first time. There are brothers and sisters here that have done testing and will probably be able to give you a more thorough answer.
Anyway, the battery life for me has been pretty incredible considering what this device does. I can't complain.

Thanks :) after it is fully charged, i can stop charging it?
Does not need to wait until it charges for 8hours although the battery now is fully charged?
because i'm charging it now, it is fully charged now (charged for 3hours until now), but do i have to continue to wait it to charge for another 5hours as it is the first time charge?

I think when it is fully charged it is fully charged. lithium ion and polymer battery charging is a subject that for me isn't definitive. There are some folks that say lithium batteries don't develop a memory and some do. I can't tell. Being inpatient, I have used electronics right out of the box and then on the other hand followed the advice of waiting till fully charged. On a polar opposite, Although I never experienced it myself, I have read about some issues if the battery is fully exhausted , so I would be mindful of that. If I remember correctly, I charged my first Nexus till full and used my second right out of the box when I left the store. They both had the best battery life I have ever seen for a device of this caliber.. Hours of video. What??:o Amazing. I have had more expensive cell phones that don't last half as long.

You don't have much of an issue with there charge on a new device. Use it right out of the box. The batteries are fully charged when they are made. A periodic drain is more crucial than the first charge.
