Title: Dire Need of Help
Post by: bjs229 on December 12, 2012, 12:40:42 AM
I went thru my second random reboot of the day and then with my son there and feeling extra confident after seeing just a fingernail can open the Nexus I gave it a shot. It was cool showing him the different radios.. etc.. Now I am in trouble. The nexus when it tries to start just flashes like bands of light.. hard to explain except that I am beat right now. I snapped the body on straight but it even is messed up without the other half not included. As soon as I plug the cord in its like a firework show even with the nexus without a back.
if anyone can help please do!

I got it to boot and go into JB It seems the Nexus isnt recognizing a charge. It keeps telling me to plug into a charger and then dying. The battery was close to dead when I pulled the back. Its plugged in? I am letting it charge now....

For future reference don't ever take the back off when your battery is low.

It sounds like your usb port was broken when you drop-kicked it, and the back cover was all that was holding it on. Maybe you can solder it back?

I'm not the lowest of the low, but I am the slowest of the slow. 49.6 mpg avg for 38k miles in non-hybrid Scion xB

I will check everything in the am. Its working now. I held the cord in till it charged some and now we seem OK. What was all the static in the beginning ? Anyone ever seen that? I wish I could have videotaped it. Crazy.

Yes, I had an arnova 7g3 with that problem and sent it back for repair. While waiting for 5 weeks I got my Nexus 7 with extended store warranty to swap it if it happened again. Maybe we should epoxy the usb jacks for strain relief?

The problem will get worse if not fixed, make sure you back up and can factory reset before it goes out completely. Changing all my passwords was a pain. At least set up the lock screen.

Yes I would definitely buy another. That is all I was thinking when it was dead. Definitely buying a protection plan on my next tablet. Seems to be back to normal now. I didn't notice anything loose when I opened it. Come to think of why it freaked out. The nexus was not turned off. It was asleep. It didn't like being ripped open while half awake I guess.

I agree with bird, I think after your little soccer game with your 7, it sustained more damage than you initially thought and taking the back off has put the proverbial final nail in it's coffin.

Sorry dude...
