...so, I picked up my N7 last Friday at Staples, went home and immediately started the setup process. A couple steps into it, it asked for a credit card number for the $25 credit. And after trying 3 different credit cards I skipped the step because it kept saying something like "This credit card can't be used... etc etc." and had the option to skip the step, so I did. But I started thinking... I kinda want that $25 now... Anyone have any ideas on what to do from here?
in case you think I was using a debit/credit card, I was for one of them, the other two were actual credit cards.

I'm guessing it has to be the/a credit card you used in Google Wallet. Try that, & let us know how it goes.

Do you mean the credit card that's linked to the Play Store? If so, yes... I've already tried that CC

Why is it asking for credit card info for the $25 Google Play credit? Shouldn't that credit show up on your Google Play Wallet/account to use on Google Play? Does Google Play put $25 on one of your credit cards (a refund of sorts?) in hopes you'll use that card to made purchases on Google Play? Maybe I'm missing something?

Ah... Just noticed you bought it at Staples not off Google Play. To get the $25 credit, Google Play needs you to set up a Google Play account (make sense) and placing credit card info on there may be part setting up the account, or at least it's optional. Just guessing it's information Google Play would like to have now when you start to buy, beyond the $25 credit, later.

But he bought it at Staples and could not use the Google Play Wallet to buy it there. To the OP, when you started setting up your new N7 (congratulations by the way), did the device know/ask you if you had a Google Play account? Try using the card info that may be in your Google Play account. Maybe the credit card info you put into the device does not match what's in your GP account?

My Google Play account had $25 in credit, which I blew through on app purchases today. I didn't realize you bought your N7 from Staples, trainerKen. I don't know how you get your $25 credit, or even if you do. The offer was originally only for people who bought from Google Play. Let us know if you can get it.

The $25 credit is available for everyone, not just those that ordered through Google Play. Zell is correct...you need to set up a Google Play account with a credit card.

I'm not sure why either, but it was part of the setup process (early on in the process, I might add)

No, at that point in the setup, if I recall correctly, it was early on in the setup (like 2nd or 3rd step), it asked for the CC number BEFORE entering my Google account. And yes, I already have one... I currently use a Galaxy Nexus (and have had two other Android phones before).
I DID tried buying an app to see if it would take me somewhere to show that I have a $25 credit, but it didn't. I just asked to confirm about charging my CC, the one that was already setup with the Galaxy Nexus.

okay, so I just randomly picked a .99 app, proceeded to buy it, it took me to a confirmation tab, where I can choose my 2 credit cards that's already linked to Google Play... and a 3rd choice is "Add card to get $25" (see pic below)

and when I click on the tab to add a card, and enter a new card, I get this message

Bummer. We have to jump through hoops to get the $25 credit. I got the credit for a couple of <$5 app purchases. Then I made a purchase that should have used the balance and a bit more. Instead of using the balance and charging the remainder on my credit card, the full purchase went on my credit card.

I'm sorry some of you are having trouble. 10 minutes after I unboxed and turned on my tablet I got an email saying the Google Play credit is now available. When purchasing my first ebook, payment options were, the $25 credit, or either of two credit cards associated with my Play account. It was effortless.

Rumour is, if you log in with multiple accounts, EACH ONE receives a $25 credit!
-
Has there been been any notice when this Credit will no longer be offered by Google?

Google appears to have patched the credit for multiple accounts

I've got a second N7 for my daughter which I want to set up with the same account details as my N7. Does anyone know if I will still get the credit?
