Title: N7 - Google Play books and films in Italian!
Post by: premieji on December 26, 2012, 06:47:38 PM
Hi - I bought my Nexus 7 Tablet in UK, but went to Italy on holiday and stupidly registered it there not realising that Google Play would then only offer me books and films in Italian - how can I avoid having to take it to UK, de-register, return to factory settings and re-register while in UK - is there a simpler way? Just to complicate matters, I am an expat Brit living in Spain...

Try this app and let us know..

Maybe you can use this to setup your play with a proxy server in the uk or us. Then if the account settings will work in other countries you may no longer need it. Unless you need programs not available in your locale. Hope it works!

You can also try accessing your play account with a browser, signing in and changing the default language. It seems the content is determined by the IP's location, so using a vpn proxy may be needed.
There may be other vpns to try, the above link only gives 500mb a month free.

There are other possible solutions if you root, like market unlocker and modified play store on xda.

Those are come great suggestions and resources Matt.  Thanks for your input on this subject.  We have seen this happen several times.  I hope that we can come to a unified solution that we can offer to those in the future that encounter this.

I'm just searching and guessing. I saw another thread about upgrading google apps to a business version (temporarily, free trial) that allowed changing the country. I can't test any of this, any guinea pigs?

Okay, is the google play app itself in english?

2. Are the apps available thru play in english?

C. Is it just the media?

I think Google is region specific, if your in Greece content is in Greek, if your in Holland content is in Dutch and if in the UK content is in English. Et cetera, et cetera...
