Title: wi-fi link speed SLOW - 1 mbps
Post by: babshill on December 26, 2012, 08:28:09 PM
I bought my son the Nexus 7 for Christmas.  The wireless shows speeds from 1 mbps to 11 mbps but my laptop is still running at 54 mbps.  What's the deal?  He's making me insane!  Help!  B

54mbps is the router connect speed. Actual throughput to the web is limited by your provider. Try speedtest on the computer, it should be the same.

My router is 54mbps connect. Throughput is 5mbps download and 1 mbps up on ATT Uverse.
For faster speeds, upgrade your broadband package.

Where are you getting the speed of the wifi? This should be the speed of the device to the router.  Download Speedtest.net from the Play store and post the test results.  I'm curious ad to what the actual transfer speeds are, not just the connection speed.  Did you go to speedtest.net on the computer?

Welcome to the forums.  I remember walking to school up hill in the snow for miles... Is it really that unbearably slow?  Where are these figures coming from? Loocid gave good advice as far as figuring  an accurate idea. Please let us know.  If I can dl a meg a second with mysetup I'm cool.  But I am slow.. like a bird.
