Welcome to the forums. Sorry for your problems.. we should be able to fix this pretty quickly. Is this the gmail app? Have You set up your account with the playstore? Have you tried connecting thru the browser? Are you sure you are inputting the correct password..info etc..?

I've only encountered this when the wifi signal is extremely weak or drops off. One or two bars may not cut it. How many bars do you have? Can you increase your signal strength by getting closer to the router or wifi source? Are there other devices in the area that are creating radio interference?

If you have not setup your google account before email this can occur.

Have read that Nexus 7 does not support Verizon 4g-LTE I WAS running. Reverted back to 3g CDMA. Now "says, Connected" but am not able to get Settings to DO ANYTHING! Only able to change the "Lock" to rotate.
Don't know how to proceed? HELP needed!

Are you using a Verizon hotspot or tethering to a Verizon phone? I ask because you reference LTE and CDMA. On the other hand if you are using the Nexus 7 HSPA tablet, Verizon does not support HSPA.

What does the internet have to do with rotate settings or any other non internet settings? I'm confused. What's going on here?
