Title: Uninstall YouTube from Nexus 7?
Post by: warekl on December 28, 2012, 06:49:48 AM
Is it possible to uninstall YouTube from my tablet? I might be a bit paranoid but looking at the permissions that the app has, it is more than I want to give it. I'm new to apps but on a PC, it would be called a virus......

I highly doubt it's a problem but you can disable the app...

Settings> Apps> All> You Tube> Clear data> Disable

I would highly advise not doing that.  Anytime you click on a video in the play store it uses you tube. I always thought when you bought movies from Google play it had a connection to your YouTube account.

Fxsarge is correct about the linking between movies purchased through Google Play Store and YouTube. One additional caution, if you are rooted and you remove pre-installed apps you run the risk of not being able to install updates to the OS, if the OS update applies patches to those apps.

That's why I suggested disabling the app rather than uninstalling...

I wouldn't disable it either because I still think it could mess up your movie account but to be honest I'm not sure.

That's the great thing about disabling. It should be a quick fix if problems arise.
