Is it a good idea to install anti-virus/anti-malware software (ex. Avast) on our Nexus 7? Do we even need such software to begin with or is this fear completely unfounded and just a carry over from our PC experience?

Please use the forum search function, this question had been answered a number of times and recently too in which the poster was given links to several threads...
Thanks.

Geez frickin' louise didn't know this place turned into a snobatorium all of a sudden. Thanks for nothing.

There's no need to be like that, wasn't my intention to offend. If you'd simply searched then you'd have found out without the need to post a question that's been asked several times. We're just trying to keep the forum clean and tidy, multiple posts of the same content makes the forum untidy.
Here's a couple of links...

Members that have been here for any extended period of time know Jayj is the first one to give 1st rate help and information . sometimes it gets annoying reminding folks to take a little time to do some research. It isn't too much too ask and definitely is not a need for name calling.

JayJ has always been incredibly helpful on here - so I suppose one has to expect a few irrational responses to comments.
This raises an interesting question though - can one trust as 'safe' apps bought through the Google Play platform - can we assume they have verified anything they 'sell' as being of suitable quality and safe?

Is it safe?/ Laurence Olivier Marathon Man circa1976
No. Apps are not 100% safe. For me..That is where reviews become critical. Read, learn and pass it on.

Yeah

I believe there are cases where a small number of apps make it thru verification and can be unsavory so to speak. That is why I try and educate myself the best possible before downloading.

You're so right. Jay gave first rate help in his answer again. A forum search will give the most opinions to this question.
