Happy New Year! And thanks for taking the time to read this question and help if you can.
Last night I downloaded GrooVe I.P. Lite to my Nexus 7
The GV logo is green and I am able to dial. (all numbers including area code)
I get the following message:
"We could not complete you call. Please try again."
Following FAQ I should make an outgoing call from GMail using the Call Phone Option under Chat.
Problem is I can't find Chat or (obviously) the Call Phone Option under it.
What am I missing here?
Thanks,
Rob ;D

Problem solved. Wish I could tell you exactly how, but I seemed to have stumbled on it through some combination of Google settings. Sorry I can't be more specific but such is the depth of my ignorance! Sufficient to say for the moment that this no cost ap seems to be a really nice thing! Happy New Year!

Good to see you are rolling. I use GIP with a Google voice app and number. Works great. Text and phone.

I will come up with a tutorial as soon as I have some time. .this is a huge help for a lot of people. I kind of set it up on a wing and a prayer... And didn't take notes. I can text and make and receive phone calls with the set up. I was so frustrated with the BT/WiFi thing when I was working on getting this together that I didn't make notes on how I set up. Good news is ..i believe GIP is a member here and will answer any inquiries if needed.

This thread triggered me to try setting up a Google phone # & try it with Groove IP. Like Barry & the OP, I didn't take notes, but got my Nexus 7 to send & receive calls.
Basically, create a Google phone #, link it to one of your existing phones, & use it in Groove IP.
I'm not the lowest of the low, but I am the slowest of the slow (49.6 mpg over 38k miles in Scion xB)
