Title: Rooted but no USB device visible?
Post by: Chrispy on January 13, 2013, 10:58:10 PM
OK, my defective N7 has been replaced with a new one, yeh!

I've rooted it using the toolkit, and as far as I know I'm rooted.

I have Stick Mount installed, but I can't see my micro Sd card?
Stick mount says 'The mount service is busy - try again in a few seconds' when I select mount or Unmount.
I upgraded to Stick Mount Pro but nothing has changed.
Does this mean I'm not really rooted? How can I tell?

Using Nexus Media Importer I can see the SD card in my USB hub and I can read and play music files etc.

How come I can't find the SD card storage using ES File Manager, X-plore etc?

What settings do I have to change?

Thanks

Chris

When you open SUper Su you should see a list of your root only apps.  Also when you start any of the apps you will see the app permission to grant superuser...

It would seem I have a problem.

Super SU reports 'There is no SU binary installed and SuperSU cannot installl it'

I've obviously done something wrong during the root process, but I can't see why.
Using the toolkit was a step by step process?

Thanks

Download RootChecker Basic from the Google Play Store will easily verify whether you have root or not. Then we can go from there.

Did you run Busybox installer? Once root is complete from the Toolkit you need to open Busybox installer and install binaries, these could be what Stickmount is referring to.
Once Busybox binaries are installed you'll then need to open SuperSU and update it's binaries before any root applications will work.

Let us know how you get on...

Busybox is a good bet.

Thanks gents,

Root checker tells me I'm not rooted.

Busybox says it has a problem opening a shell with root access.

Is it safe to just start the root process again from scratch?
Or do I have to do some cleaning up first?

Thanks

Chris

First connect your Nexus 7 to your computer and go to Device Manager and verify that you have Android Phone / ADB Device interface. This must be installed correctly for the rooting process to succeed. Once you verify that this driver is installed you can proceed with the root process.

After rooting with the toolkit you are not finished.  Like Jayj said you need to run Busybox.. and then SuperSu. They should be in your app drawer after the root process.

Wow, that's a relief!  :D

All fixed, using the Wugfresh toolkit.
Thanks to everyone who responded to my calls for help!
