Title: Introducing.....
Post by: ajm600 on January 25, 2013, 06:33:04 AM
My name is Tony from Lancashire, I recently purchased my N7 and am generally happy excepting a couple of niggly problems.
Mainly with youtube freezing all the time. I have found it to be impossible to watch a youtube video for more than a few seconds before it starts to buffer. Even my HTC phone on 3G doesn't do that. Is there a fix? If not it is v v disappointing - especially when I am in the presence of an iPad owner!

Welcome to the forums Tony.
I have encountered the YouTube stutter as well. It usually happens when I am using a Bluetooth speaker. Sometimes I am forced to toggle between HD and regular def to remedy the problem. Do you have Wi-Fi optimization checked in settings? If so try un checking it.

Thanks very much for your speedy reply. A refreshing change from the usual forum ignore!
I am not quite sure what you mean by unchecking "wifi optimisation" in settings, where would I find such a thing to uncheck? I don't see it. If I can't fix the youtube problem it sort of rubs the gloss off a bit.
The other small problem is my inability to send emails using my own server (talktalk). I have been forced to use gmail which has - for me - a very unfriendly interface. The outgoing port is set at 587 and will not change, and I think that may be the problem. Any ideas?
Once again that for the response.

In settings click on Wi-Fi. Tap the the dots at the top right and in the menu tap advanced. You should see a spot for battery optimize when Wi-Fi on. Unchecked is supposed to help some with the YouTube issue.

It was 6 months before my original iPad could watch a YouTube clip successfully. They were diabolical.

IPad's and YouTube.
My iPod touch and 2 other androids were fine.

The iPad would buffer for 15s for each 5s of play.

Google against Apple?  Imagine that.
I believe Google actually just came out with an app just for IOS...
