Title: How to use Doc Converter
Post by: anken32 on February 04, 2013, 06:26:50 PM
Hi, I have installed "Doc Converter" on my N7 because I have some  .rtf (they open o.k. in ES Explorer)  files  which I would like to transfer to Evernote where I could edit them.
When I open Doc Converter, I can browse to the files I want and  which show up on the upper line. The lower line which is supposed be "Conversion Result" is empty. The lowest line of course is "convert"
The Evernote file  is listed as: /sdcard/Evernote/etc....Have tried to change the file extension from there but it doesn't make any difference. I can't find any settings for it in the Apps Info. either.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

Thanks bjs229.
I feel really silly, not being able to figure this file converter out. Can't find any instructions for this app. Have un- and re-installed it but still have the same problem.
I'm using MS Word Starter 2010 now and was hoping that this would solve my problem with those imported files but no such luck....

Have you tried Adobe Acrobat or Reader to change the extension to something a little less proprietary? Now that I think about it pdf might be the only option with that. Microsoft word gives you the option to save as....

You can now get free kingsoft office for BOTH Android and Windows OS.  Foxit Office Suite includes KingSoft (and their pdf reader which I used to use until they bloated it...i have not checked it recently so they may have slimmed it down since.)

http://www.foxitsoftware.com/downloads/ (http://www.foxitsoftware.com/downloads/)

Now you can use the same app on both and avoid the entire conversion thing...

Thank you for your suggestions.  I finally had a chance to get back to the problem with my files.
Have converted them to .pdf  with Adobe Reader.  Thank you for this tip! If I go to "All Documents" in Kingsoft Office, I can open and read the files. Great!
 Now I have another problem....
The file path in Kingsoft Office is:
/storage/emulator/0/KingsoftOffice/file
My problem still is that I can't edit the files. This is probably the wrong path for that purpose.  Also, I still have some of the nonworking  .docx  and .txt files there which I can't see how to delete.
If you have more suggestions with editing & deleting files file in Kingsoft, I will appreciate it very, very much!!

You can use a File Manager program to delete or move files.

Some frequently used examples are:
ES File Explorer  -  https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.estrongs.android.pop&feature=nav_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwxLDMsImNvbS5lc3Ryb25ncy5hbmRyb2lkLnBvcCJd

X-plore (has dual pane makes it easy to copy and paste) - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.lonelycatgames.Xplore&feature=search_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwxLDEsImNvbS5sb25lbHljYXRnYW1lcy5YcGxvcmUiXQ..
