Title: Google Glass
Post by: Babyfacemagee on February 04, 2013, 09:05:47 PM
Was curious who in the forum has been following the latest developments of Sergei Brin's pet project, Project Glass', also known as 'Google Glass'.   Will 'Google Glass' replace the phone someday?  Is augmented reality the future and will we all be walking around with these things on one day?

If you've followed any cyberpunk novels, they seem to have started the concept. Virtual reality overlays on actual reality. Cyber graffiti. Ads and artwork wherever your cyborg vision turns. Instead of touch screen, the graphics would simulate touch control. Instead of a tablet, android contact lenses.

I love the idea. It seems that the concept is not jumping off with developers. I have seen a few pics and Vids but not much else. I wear contacts and glasses and would love the opportunity to morph them with my electronic life.

Disappointing, I'll hold out for the direct neural interface. As long as it's not patented by Apple.

If you're accustomed to wearing glasses, I could see this as a huge benefit. I'm required to wear safety glasses at work. Maybe they will make a shatterproof version. I still haven't become comfortable talking to my devices in public. And its too loud at work to be any use.

Maybe a HUD for the car... That would definitely have to be in my arsenal of gadgets.

I don't like them, wouldn't want to interact with somebody wearing them either...
They could take my picture without my knowledge or consent and whilst talking to them they could be watching porn or searching the meaning of life or Skyping my conversation with them...
Plus they look damn stupid, I think I'd laugh at anybody I knew wearing them...

Made my own. Saved a pretty penny.

Haha. You young whippersnappers with your newfangled gadgets. I remember when white-out went viral (invented by a Monkey's mother!).

Wonder if this tech will work for those of us with astigmatism, or inability to focus. I wear trifocals.
