As most of you know by now in the forum (since you've been discussing it the past two days), Android 4.2.2 has and still is being pushed out to Nexus 7 as well as Nexus 4, 10 and Galaxy Nexus devices.  The update brings some behind the scenes performance tweaks as well as some new and improved features.  Those features include a new notifications bar for downloads which includes the percentage and estimated time remaining for the download.  Also new is a new change to the Quick Settings menu which lets you long press on either the Wi-Fi or Bluetooth squares to use them as on/off toggles.  There's also a few new sounds that have been added to the Android experience although some of them only apply to the Nexus 4 (like wireless charging).  You'll get a new low battery sound on all the devices however.   There's also a new USB debug whitelist which adds some additional security to your device.

Another interesting tidbit about the 4.2.2 release is that apparently there's been some battery life improvements, or so we're led to believe since Google just changed the estimated battery life on the Nexus 7 product page from 8 to 10 hours.  We're curious if forum members are seeing a noticeable different in battery life to warrant this change.

As a last point, it's been widely reported in the tech blogosphere that Android 4.2.2 is the last major update we're likely to see for the whole family of Nexus devices, 4, 7 and 10...until the next major version of Android is released sometime later this spring or summer...most likely during Google I/O this May.   That version will reportedly be called 'Key Lime Pie' and represent Android 5.0.  We widely expect a new 2nd generation of the Nexus 7 to be unveiled at the same time but fear not we're all but certain that Android 5.0, Key Lime Pie will be pushed to 1st generation Nexus 7 owners as well so you'll get to enjoy most if not all of the new software goodness.   In the meantime...enjoy Android 4.2.2.  It's the latest and greatest...for now.

So did 4.2.2 fix up the bluetooth issues?

The time remaining is in your notifications pull down...

So it does. Didn't realise that. Thanks.

Seems a bit of overkill if you ask me. It's not as though you're gonna download GB's of data from GP.

I've found it quite useful especially on a limited mobile data connection (AP Hotspot or MiFi), gives me an idea of how long the download it going to clog up my bandwidth...
