Title: OK, I'll admit it...
Post by: radiocycle on February 19, 2013, 10:34:01 AM
I should have ponnied up the extra 50 bucks and went with the 16Gb model  :-[  Oh I'm managing alright at this point but I have bumped my head several times and had to uninstall a program or two so that I had some room to 'operate'.  Memory managers and the like can help with organization but you just can't make up for space that doesn't exist and when it gets too full, performance suffers.
So I've been considering eBaying my 8Gb baby and upgrading to the 32GB.  But then I think, well that's kind of a luxury at this point.  I've heard rumblings about a next generation N7, maybe later in the year(?) so I might just try and hold out to see what comes down the pike.... I don't think I'm falling into the 'keep waiting for the next, best, greatest gadget' trap, but if a new Nexus 7 is just around the corner, I think I can hold out a little longer.  Whada you think??

Here's a small trick to free up some space on your limited device...

Previously there was a system partition, a user partition, and a storage partition. Since 4.2 the user and storage partitions have been combined. This allows one to utilize there majority of the SD card for user apps. When that is full, use titanium to convert some of your user apps to system apps. This will move them to the system partition, freeing up user space. Be careful with what apps thou do this with. Make sure that yuppy only use apps that are safe and trusted, and free of bugs, as a factory reset will not remove these apps from the system partition. The process can be reverted using titanium.

Drop back to 4.1.2 and you can use Directory Bind to store data on a USB flash drive. See my 64 GB Question thread. My 8 GB N7 had 40 GB of storage.

I'm not the lowest of the low, but I am the slowest of the slow (49.6 mpg over 38k miles in  Scion xB)
