Title: Kingsoft Office 5.3.4 (Free)
Post by: Scriv13 on March 09, 2013, 09:01:44 AM
Anyone advise how I can export a Word document compiled using Kingsoft Office 5.3.4 (Free) on the Nexus 7 to my pc.

No problem exporting a Word document from the pc to the Nexus but the pc won't recognize a document produced on the Nexus.

I've tried saving it in all the various available formats (doc. docx. txt & pdf) within Kingsoft and saving it to different folders in the Nexus internal storage, starting with documents with no luck.

Ok! I've answered my own question. Power down the Nexus & power it up again & the file appears in Windows Explorer under the Nexus Internal Storage/Documents folder, which is where I saved it. I'll leave this topic in place as it may help others.

So you had to reboot while connected USB to the computer?
If you do a lot of that maybe you should try an app called Airdroid. Wirelessly move files from Nexus to the PC and vice versa.

This is one of the issues with PTP (Picture Transfer Protocol) which is a subset of MTP (Media Transfer Protocol). Since HoneyComb your Android device sets up as a MTP device when connected to a PC and by design, MTP devices (like PTP devices) are not treated as a traditional removable drive. The actual file system is implemented by the device, not by the computer's operating system. Basically files created on the MTP device are not seen through a USB connection until the device is forced to reread the file structure refreshing the MTP information, as you have seen when you rebooted your Nexus 7.

As a workaround, save the document to your Google Drive and access it through Google Drive on your PC.

I vote for Google drive. It will do all the work for you.

The way I would personally handle that is I would email it to myself but ill have always internet when I'm on my tablet and computer which you may not and I also have 3 email addresses on my tab so I'll just send things back and forth through those.

hi bjs229, no not whilst connected to the computer. S.Prime has explained how it works & thank you for that. It seems that the file produced on the Nexus isn't permanently filed until the unit is re-booted.

Hi, I am a newbie here. And I am almost a green hand on dealing with the Kingsoft O ffice problem. I have never used it before. But I think you can export to Word document using some Word processer SDK (http://www.rasteredge.com/how-to/csharp-imaging/word-processing/). Check its free trial package first to see whether it is helpful. I hope you success. Good luck.
