Title: Google Search
Post by: Crystal Ice on March 18, 2013, 03:14:24 PM
When google search updates (every day) my Voice Search quits working. ( I get the "Unfortunately Google Search has stopped." pop-up)  so I have to uninstall the update. I have reported it several times. Does anyone else have this problem and if so, how can I fix it so it either won't update

Try clearing the app's cache and data.  If that fails, uninstall the app and reinstall it.

Once I uninstall the update, the app does not show up in the app listing (although it shows up on the main screen) I didn't download this app, it came on my Nexus 7 and I love it. I know I tried what you suggested once before. I called Nexus and that was what they told me to do, so I did and it worked...until the next day when it updated. Does anyone else have any ideas?

Did you try rebooting after updating?

Why don't you update it now? If you go to the play store and click the little arrow on the top right it should show up as updatable.....after update try rebooting and see if that helps.

I updated like you said, turned it off and back on and I get the message that "Unfortunately Google has stopped working". Any other suggestions

Are you still getting errors after the initial one? Personally. With all of these system errors. I would do a hard reset. You will lose data like pictures and documents unless you back them up.

Are you stock, or rooted? Running a custom ROM? What Android OS? Current gapps?

I'm not the lowest of the low, but I am the slowest of the slow (49.6 mpg over 38k miles in  Scion xB)

I am assuming this is a stock machine unrooted.

I have too many books, etc. on my Nexus 7 to put it back to basic. I haven't changed any thing major, just the few apps I have, etc. This morning I had to uninstall the Google update to make Voice Search work again. Has anyone else had this problem? I can't be the only one that has had this probelm. Any other ideas to fix this?

Go to Google Play Store, click on the down arrow, & slide the tab from INSTALLED to ALL . Find Google Search, and unclick the Allow automatic updating box.

Thanks. This worked and I don't have to uninstall the update every day. I appreciate the help. Sorry I didn't get back sooner to let you know.
