Title: Deleting built-in apps
Post by: redback on April 03, 2013, 10:32:46 PM
Is there a way to delete built-in apps?  I am aware that there is an option to disable them (but the world will instantly come to an end if I do).
Having found other apps that I prefer to the built-in apps, I would like to have them gone and reclaim the stiorage space they occupy.  Is there a way?

Built in apps are installed on the system partition. This is space that is not available for user app storage. You can delete them only if you are rooted, however, this can cause issues when trying to update.

I would suggest freezing apps /disabling them as opposed to deleting them. You will run into problems when updates are available if you delete apps that are part of the stock ROM.

As bjs has suggested, just disable them.

Settings> Apps> All> select application and select disable...
