Hi guys.
My nephew has had his Nexus 7 trodden on and the screen is broken.
Is there anywhere in the UK that supplies and fits replacement screens please?
TIA.

The replacement screens I found were around 130$ u.s. from alibaba. Look for a used 8GB to cannibalize and diy. When the nexus 7 vers2 arrives there may be a glut of them. Loocid went through this and there are photos & instructions on ifixit . Rotten luck.

Thanks Matt.
I read the other threads but we're a few months old so thought I'd start a new one :)
Looks like a complete new N7 for now and get a replacement screen if/when cheaper, if ever!

The screens may get cheaper as the new nexus has a new screen, natch. Search alibaba but the cheap ones are screen only, no digitizer. Impossible to replace just one, imo. Hard to wait for the new one when you're jonesin on the old.

I now have the busted Nexus 7 but USB DEBUG wasn't enabled so I can't access any of the files on it.
So my question is, is there any way of forcing it into USB DEBUG mode without going through the settings? It's not rooted.
TIA.

There may be a way to do a nandroid backup by booting into recovery with power and volume pressed. Then adb pull, I believe. Not the expert.
Are the screen and digitizer both broken, or does the lcd still work but with no touch control?
-
I believe with the toolkit you can backup withput having to touch the screen or debugging...

You may need to restore the backup before you can access files. Look thru lucid's tutorial. If just the digitizer is broken, attach a game controller to navigate the screen.

Thanks for the replies guys.
@bjs - which toolkit please? I tried Wug's but needs to have debug enabled.
The screen switches on but touch doesn't work.
I'll try the controller method. PS3 or Xbox?

I plugged in an old logitec dual action usb game controller and it worked without setup. A usb keyboard/mouse may also work. Or just mouse. Nothing bluetooth, unless already on and can pair.
-
I just tried a usb keyboard that came with an old case and the arrow keys will work to get to setup and turn debug on. navigating within Chrome needs a mouse, haven't tried file explorers. if developer options weren't turned on you'll need to hit enter on the build number in about tablet 7 times.

I could have swore you could use Wugs without debug...I have to look. I thought there was a spot where you could revive a bricked nexus. Did you look at Skippens kit? Shot in the dark.

I think you can use Wug's toolkit without debug mode but only to wipe it.
Can't get controller to work so tried a keyboard, via OTG cable, and it worked !!
I can now access the files, copy off what he wants, then do a factory reset !!
Thanks guys.

Great! I'm sure there's a button combo to cycle thru hyperlinks and bookmarks in Chrome but my sieve of a brain has lost it. Tab will get you to the address box. Other shortcuts may apply to file explorers.
I'm pretty sure using a toolkit you can reboot to fel or recovery mode for nandroid backup. Maybe reboot with power and volume, then connect usb.
My laptop's hard drive is getting bad sectors so I haven't tested any adb stuff. There's also a new universal adb driver that will work with any android, supposedly, no more multiple installs for each device.
I think there may be a way to mirror the n7 to a pc if the screen is hard to see because of broken glass...

Thanks Matt.

Have you tried Airdroid to get to your files?
