Title: Nexus 7 Won't Charge
Post by: yaya2141 on April 19, 2013, 03:04:30 PM
I have tried 3 different chargers and my nexus will only charge when the charger is forcibly pushed into the port, which is not possible to do for a long time, what can i do to fix the problem as at the moment my nexus has been rendered useless.

Also if i cannot fix the micro usb port does the new nexus 7 dock need the use of the micro usb port or do the pogo pins charge the device on their own

Thanks in advance

Welcome.

You might be able to shave a little plastic from the usb plug to get it in further. The original otg cord that came with it fits best. The dock works great and doesn't use usb on the nexus, it does use the same charger and cord to a micro usb port on the dock itself.. Look for a teardown on ifixit, I believe the usb jack is easily replaced, separate from the main board. Try some non-lube contact cleaner 1st. On the plug, then insert a few times.

Respectful of suggestions, if it is a new device, use your return option, if it is an older device, that has been working correctly, try for warranty coverage. Hardware issues usually only get worse.
