I don't use anti virus on my nexus 7. I've had one since they came out and haven't had any problems. Just be cautious of what I download.

I honestly don't feel threatened on my Android device as I am very careful about third party apps and don't download new apps from Google Play that do not have a large following and favorable comments.

Be very careful when using open wifi and when downloading apps with no mass following and good feedback. Read the persmissions.

Welcome to the forums.  I agree with all the previsions responders, but for a different reason.  I don't keep any sensitive data on my N7.  If I should get a virus, it would be easy enough to do a factory reset and reinstall my apps.

I do use anti-virus on my pocket computer.  It's probably not necessary, but it gives me some peace of mind.  Kind of like using a seat belt.
