Title: Connecting a head set?
Post by: johnwhelan on May 03, 2013, 04:41:58 PM
I'll like to use Skype with a conventional headset so both ears and a microphone.  Any suggestions?  Possibly using the USB port?

Thanks John

Mentally I was thinking of a headset that had a microphone since that is what I use on the Windows machine and of course the Nexus only has a head phone socket.  Blue tooth is a possibility but which one works reliably with Nexus 7 plus there aren't that many conventional headsets with microphone that cover both ears.  My hearing isn't what it used to be and Skype is clearer for me these days than a conventional phone.

I tried just using headphones last night and that was a lot better than the speaker so using the built in microphone is a possibility except of course you have to hold the device in you hot little hand when making the call and sometimes I want to use my hands to find something written down etc.

I get the impression that I’d need operating system support for anything on the USB port or I’d need to root out and get out a few UNIX tools so technically possible but doesn’t appeal.

Thanks for your thoughts.

I use a wired headphone with a speaker sometimes and it works well. a bluetooth speaker is great too.
