Post by: sportsnut69 on May 10, 2013, 08:46:23 AM
Hi need some help and info my wife dropped her nexus 7 and cracked the touch screen she as set a pattern password on the main screen and we now cannot get into the tablet I know its basically scrap but I only want to know if I can by pass the password so can then get her info on to the PC so when her new one arrives can transfer her data back. This is a genuine v request and not a scam she as important info on the tablet that  we need to recover but when I connect to PC it recognises but won't show the internal drive as the tablet is locked can I do Anything  or am I to basically throw it  away and start again.

You might try a usb mouse with micro usb adapter. See if a mouse pointer appears.

IF the unlock was a pin code, a keyboard would work.

Just verified a wireless usb mouse does give a pointer. It entered my pin unlock, should work on pattern holding left click down. It disabled the pop-up on screen keyboard but it should get you to where you can disable pattern unlock and switch to a wired keyboard.

A wired mouse should work, don't have one to try.
